Parkwood House

Parkwood House, Plymouth

Our Parkwood House care home is set in quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking the delightful Devonport Park. The home is just a short walk from Stoke Village where there are useful convenience stores, shops, cafes and bank.

Parkwood House has a welcoming atmosphere accommodating 46 residents, with three lounges on the ground floor and a busy dining and café area. One of the lounges also has a large cinema screen which regularly screens favourite films that residents enjoy. A sheltered courtyard garden is easily accessible where meals can be enjoyed soaking up the sun.

Parkwood House holds the Certificate of Registration from the Eden Alternative UK & Ireland, which recognises that the residents and the team at Parkwood House are well established on the Eden Alternative journey and have fulfilled the requirements for inclusion in the Eden Alternative philosophy, developing strategies to address potential problems of loneliness, helplessness and boredom.

We encourage residents and their families to come along and learn more about the Eden Alternative and how we as a team have adopted the approach at Parkwood House.

Our award winning Activities Team at Parkwood has pioneered a unique digital ‘Pen- Pal project, to connect Parkwood House with other Eden Alternative Registered Homes through Skype sessions. Our residents will be speaking with other residents in America to begin with, and we hope to develop new friendships through this initiative.

At the Celebrating Excellence in Care Awards 2017 the Activities Team at Parkwood House won the Best Activity Coordinators Award. We are very proud of this achievement and the team won largely due to the inter-generational links that they have made with Primary schools in the local area as well as innovative group activities that they have developed within the Home.
