Sefton Hall care home in Dawlish has won two prestigious national awards this year.
The staff at the care home were named Care Team of the Year category at the Caring UK Awards, which recognises excellence and achievement within the care sector across the UK.
Sefton Hall care home manager, Gabriela Ogreanu, was also surprised with an award for Exceptional Leadership from the South West Academic Health Science Network.
Gabriela said: “The leadership award was presented unexpectedly during a training webinar. I am thrilled to have been recognised in this way. I am also so pleased for the team to have won the Care Team of the Year award. By far our best achievement as a home is to see our residents, their families and friends giving such good feedback from the service they are receiving – especially in the past two years of the pandemic. It’s good to hear from them that they feel there is a high level of care and that they feel valued, listened to and that their views matter.”
An awards spokesperson said: “Never has there been a more appropriate time to recognise the amazing and selfless contribution that our carers make and how they have given so much to protect and care for their residents in the face of unprecedented challenges.”
The awards are organised by Script Events in conjunction with leading care industry magazine Caring UK, with support from headline sponsor Virgin Money.
In May 2020 during the first lockdown, the home made international headlines when it organised a drive-through to reunite residents with their families and loved ones.
Sefton Hall was also part of the government’s visiting pilot scheme late last year which made it possible for relatives to enter the home once they had provided a negative lateral flow test.
